Business Licensing

Before conducting business in the Town of Batesburg-Leesville, we encourage you to call the Business License Office to discuss the requirements for obtaining a license. Our Business License staff can assist you with any questions you may have about rates or obtaining a business license. Any person responsible for the ownership or operation of a business in the Town of Batesburg-Leesville, who is engaged or intending to engage in any calling, business, occupation or profession, is required to pay an annual license tax for the privilege of doing business and obtain a business license. This includes those businesses or professionals located outside the Town of Batesburg-Leesville who conduct business within the municipal limits of Batesburg-Leesville.

If you plan to establish a new business in the Town of Batesburg-Leesville, or have a change in ownership, you will first need to submit a completed Zoning Permit Application. After zoning compliance is verified, the next step will be a Fire/Safety Inspection conducted by the Fire Marshall. Once approval has been given to proceed, a business license can be obtained.

The Town of Batesburg-Leesville uses the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) to classify business establishments based on the type of work being performed by that business. To find out the NAICS classification of your business, please click here .

Businesses located within the municipal limits of Batesburg-Leesville are required to submit IRS tax documents each year showing gross receipts for the calculation of their business license.

All required South Carolina Department of Labor, License and Regulation licensed contractors must purchase a vehicle sticker for each vehicle performing work at job sites. The cost of contractor vehicle stickers is $5.00 per vehicle.

Just a friendly reminder that renewals are due no later than April 30 in order to avoid penalty.  After May 1st  a 5% penalty per month and increasing by 5% each additional month will be assessed.
