Andrea Mercedes Waters, a senior at White Knoll High School, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Murphy of Lexington was crowned Miss South Carolina Poultry Festival and winner of a $1000.00 scholarship Saturday, March 15th, at the annual Miss South Carolina Poultry Festival Beauty Pageant sponsored by the South Carolina Poultry Festival and hosted by the Woman's Society of Batesburg-Leesville. Andrea also won photogenic in her division and will represent the festival at numerous functions during her reign.
Ninety-six contestants vied for nine titles and $1500.00 in scholarships. The proceeds raised are awarded in scholarships each year to the Miss Division winners, community continuing education students and students of Lexington School District Three on awards day held in May at B-L High School.
Mrs. Lois Black, president of the Woman's Society and vice-president of Black's Tire Service, Inc., served as chairman and director, assisted by Woman's Society members. Master of Ceremonies was Don Stone, spokesman for the South Carolina Poultry Festival. Accredited judges were Mrs. Audrey Lorence, reigning Ms. S.C. American Queen and winner of many other titles. Ms. Morgan Smith Yarborough, Miss S.C. Teen USA 2000 and Tommy Barrs.

In the Miss Division second place and winner of a $300.00 scholarship is Ellen Elizabeth Neely, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Neely of Lexington: third place and winner of a $200.00 scholarship is Blakely Cierra Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Scott of North Augusta.
Other division winners are: Baby Miss and Photogenic winner, Anna Elise Luzzi, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Luzzi of Clover; second place Kaitlyn Taylor daughter of Crystal Sanders of Batesburg-Leesville; third place, Addyson Grace Dukes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shane Dukes of Batesburg-Leesville;
Teeny Miss Ashleigh Da'Neyah Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chirs Hill of Ridgeway; second place and photogenic winner is Halle Christine Bevins, daughter of Jessica Bevins and Justin Jerningan of Pelion; third place, Sawyer Melane Buzhardt, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Ashley Buzhardt of Batesburg-Leesville.
Tot Miss and photogenic winner is Kamden Elise Wix, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Wix of Silverstreet; second place Isabella Grace Gunter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Gunter III of Batesburg-Leesville, third place Emily Renee Howard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Jason Howard of Batesburg-Leesville,
Wee Miss is Makenzie Renee Lunley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Lumley of Jackson, second place and photogenic winner is Kaylee Renee Caughman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Caughman of Lexington, third place Maison Dantzler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Dantzler of West Columbia.
Tiny Miss and photogenic winner is Emery Nicole Brooks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brooks of Lexington, second place is Kamryn Ashr Buzhardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ashley Buzhardt of Batesburg-Leesville, third place is Morgan Teanna Littell, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Brian Littell of Lexington.
Little Miss is Morgan Michelle Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Taylor of Gilbert, second place is Grace Elizabeth Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Moore of Saluda, third place is Texanna Leigh Miller , daughter of Mr. and Mrs Russell Miller of Batesburg-Leesville, photogenic is Kaylee Ann Black, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stacy Black of Batesburg-Leesville.
Young Miss and photogenic winner is JaHire Alexus Martinez, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Timothy Hilliard of Columbia, second place is Ashlyn Elizabeth Bowers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Rob Bowers of Pomaria, third place Taylor Michelle Murrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Mitch Murrell of Trenton.
Teen Miss is Holly Renee Seeby, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Timothy Seeby of Lexington, second place Jade Lankford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs David Lankford of Lexington, third place is Claudia Cervantes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reynaldo Cervantes of Newberry, photogenic winner is Chelsea Jayne Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darren Smith of Bowman.
The Woman's Society and the S. C. Poultry Festival Committee are truly grateful to all who participated in the success of this year's pageant.
