Community Involvement

Smoke Alarm Program

The Batesburg-Leesville Fire Department is proud to offer the installation of smoke alarms to those in need, free of charge.  The program is geared specifically towards homes with the elderly and small children, however, no one in need will be turned away.

The B-L Fire Department is currently installing extended battery life smoke alarms which were purchased through donations, grants and fundraising.  If you or someone you know is in need of smoke alarms please contact the B-L Fire Department at 803-604-7679.

Fire Prevention Demonstrations

Fire prevention demonstrations stress the importance of smoke alarms in the home and the value of fire escape planning.  The B-L Fire Department offers a variety of fire safety demonstrations and educational programs for all ages.  From the fire safety house to a puppet show for our youngest friends to home safety checks for the elderly.

Reflective 911 Address Sign Program

In a time of emergency you don’t want emergency responders to struggle to find your home.  Town and County ordinances call for all properties to have their address visible from the road with residences requiring 3” numbers and commercial properties having 4” numbers.  The most effective method of this for first responders is a reflective address sign by the roadway.  These signs show up well at night as they reflect the light from headlights.

The Batesburg-Leesville Fire Department can make and install the signs for you with prices starting at $15.  These signs have been installed throughout the community for over 15 years and we promise that you will be satisfied.  Please refer to the order form for a price breakdown and if you have any questions please contact the department at 803-604-7679.
